Noike is near the Sendagi Metro Station. The restaurant resembles a traditional Japanese house. On the first floor, there are counter seats from which you can see the sushi chefs at work and on the second floor, there is a traditional tatami mat room. What you should definitely try here is the "edomae anago" (salt water eel prepared in the Tokyo-style) sushi. This excellent sushi shop is surprisingly reasonably priced. Expect to pay from 2,000 to 3,000 yen.
This restaurant is located near the JR Nishi-Nippori Station. There are some counter seats, some regular table seats and some tatami seats for those of you who would like to sit on the floor Japanese-style. If you go there for lunch, you can have delicious seafood donburi (seafood on rice) or sushi sets that are accompanied with a miso soup and tea for less than 1,000 yen. In the evening, you can order assortment platters of sushi from 1,050 to 4,900 yen. Try the 2,900 yen one and you'll have plenty!
Matsu Sushi was established in 1940 and is currently run in part by the family's third generation of sushi chefs. It is located near the Sendagi Metro Station. It has an at-home atmosphere and a long counter where you can sit at and see the chef make the sushi and serve it directly to you from the kitchen. You can order a-la-carte or have a lunch assortment special for 3,000 yen or an o-makase course (chef's choice) at night for 6,000 yen. Opened only from Friday to Sunday.
This resto is located a 5-minute walk from the Nippori Station. People say that it's a well-kept secret in the area. You get to eat excellent sushi made from the freshest ingredients. The service is excellent as well. Ask and the staff can recommend to you some of the best Japanese sakes to pair with your sushi. For lunch, expect to pay under 2,000, but for dinner the bill can get up to 6,000 yen.
Sushie is located near the Nishi-Nippori Station. This is another excellent small sushi shop run by a welcoming couple. Have there for lunch the Tekkan Donburi (vinegared rice topped with tuna sashimi). You'll have two types of tuna sashimi in one bowl. For dinner, ask for an assorted platter of sushi and you shouldn't be disappointed. The ingredients are very fresh and delicious and the menu varies depending on which ingredients are available at the market.
