Most Popular Tempura Places in Sapporo, Hokkaido!
Do not miss tempura while you are in Hokkaido! Tempura is a deep fried food (usually seafood and vegetables) which is coated with special light and crispy batter. As Sapporo is located in the northernmost prefecture Hokkaido, they have unique and local tempura too that you should try!
1. Tempura Ebiten (てんぷら蛯天)
Their tempura menu is delicious and reasonably priced. I recommend you to get tendon (1000 yen), a rice bowl topped with light and crispy tempura of two big shrimps and some vegetables, that comes with a side of vegetable pickles and miso soup.
2. Tempura Zen (てんぷら膳)
Firstly you can enjoy the atmosphere of the restaurant where you can experience Japanese traditions. They use fresh, local and unique ingredients like sea urchin for tempura you must try. They offer course menus too (7000-10000 yen). Also a great selection of sake (Japanese wine).
3. Ginza Hageten (銀座ハゲ天)
You can get a large tendon loaded various kinds of tempura like shrimp, fish, egg, and vegetables for 1000-1500 yen. The ingredients are fired nicely which enhances the natural flavor of them. They also come with a side salad and miso soup.
4. Hokkaido Kanishogun (北海道かに将軍)
Their crab tempura is a must-try. Hokkaido is known for its delicious crab, and when they are dipped into the light and crispy tempura batter and deep fried, they taste amazing. You can also enjoy other crab dishes like sushi and steak which you can taste the natural sweetness of the crab.
5. Sobadokoro Issa (そば処 一紗)
You will be surprised with how perfect the combination of the soba and tempura is. Tempura adds the texture and flavor to the slightly sweet soba noodle. They also offer various kind of soba as well as tempura soba (600-1200 yen).
