It is called a museum, but it is more of an amusement park where you can try ramen for various regions in Japan, and also from abroad.
The theme of the decoration is a streetscape reminiscent of a 1958 Japan. The date when the instant ramen was invented!
There are many restaurants serving small and normal-sized portions so you can try ramen from different parts of Japan and even worldwide.

Apart from the restaurants, there is also museum shop and a car race track on the first floor; a cafe, snack shop, a dagashi-ya (a shop selling old-fashioned candy) on the 1st basement.

So where is ramen from anyway?
Although it is originally a Chinese dish, the dish was introduced to Japan and become a staple of Japanese cuisine.
When Japan reopened its ports in 1859, Chinese restaurants started to set up in the port towns. As Japanese people became accustomed to the dish, they started to accommodate it to the local palate.

So what is the difference with Chinese ramen then?
The dashi (soup stock)! The Japanese developped a soup stocked especially for ramen, it can be made from anywhere to five to forty ingredients.
