Gyukatsu Explained

Gyukatsu is a Japanese dish that consists of breaded, deep-fried beef cutlets. You may be familiar with tonkatsu, the pork equivalent of the dish that has been popular for a long time. Gyukatsu however is quite a novelty! Once a little-known dish, its popularity really exploded from 2015.

The new restaurant also renewed its menu to include 12 kinds of new side dishes!

The restaurant is located in in Lucua Mall, a complex directly connected to the JR Osaka Station.

New Menu Items That Are Typically Japanese

These side dishes are called "kobachi" which literally translates to small bowls. There are twelve of them, each of which come from traditional Japanese cuisine.

The price for this set is 1,400 yen for 130 g of cutlets or 2,200 yen for 260 g.
How To Eat It

Placed in front of you is a small burner on which you grill your medium rare gyukatsu slice by slice.

Once the meat is cooked to your liking, you can add some wasabi on it and dip it in soy sauce.

There is also a special mountain wasabi sauce that comes with your order. Dip your piece in it, then in rock salt for a different taste.

The tororo (grated yam) is seasoned to perfection. Just pour it on your rice and enjoy eating it with your cutlets.

You can even receive one more serving of barley rice for free!
