Yokosuka Navy Burger: Monster American-Style Burgers In The Town Of Yokosuka, Kanagawa!

Yokosuka is a town located on the sea side in Kanagawa prefecture. It is quite well-known for having a big American and Japanese naval base. Because of the presence of the American Navy (20,000 Americans live in the area), hamburger joints are very popular. One hamburger type in particular called the Navy Burger became somewhat of an iconic food for the town. The Navy Burger is basically a massive hamburger with a thick beef patty. Many restaurants have their own variation of the dish. Rich toppings are often added to create these monster burgers.

Feel free to follow favy!

TSUNAMI

TSUNAMI is located a 10-minute walk from the Yokosuka Station or a 5-minute walk from the Shiori Station. This is the most famous place for the Navy Burger in Yokosuka! Simply put, the burgers are huge and meaty. The one shown below, the Double "R" which includes mozzarellas cheese, bacon, and two beef patties weighs over 1 kg. You can also get the "Trump Burger" (1,800 yen) which has peanut butter, a fried egg, bacon, a thick meat patty and sloppy joe topping. Your arteries might not like you for a while after that! The most outstanding Navy Burger is a tower-like 5,200 yen burger made for 4-5 people.

Honey Bee

The Honey Bee Restaurant is located an 8-minute walk from the Shiori Station or a 13-minute walk from the Yokosuka Station. All the burgers here are between 650 and 980 yen. Although relatively cheaper than TSUNAMI's burgers, you still get a satisfying volume. The burger has a pretty big juicy patty, and the vegetable toppings which include tomatoes and lettuce, are said to be fresh and crisp. The particularity of this joint is that they serve honey on the side with their burgers. The burgers are simply seasoned with salt and pepper, so adding honey creates an interesting taste that many people love. This is one of the best-rated joints on online rating websites.

Cafe and Grill Perry

Perry is located around the same area as the other two mentioned above. It has a selection of Navy Burgers ranging in price from 700 to 1,000 yen. They also have set meal in which you can get a burger and Japanese-style curry. Curry is another famous food Yokosuka is famous for so this might be a good choice. The picture below is a quarter-pounder burger-curry set at 1,800 yen, which also includes a mini salad, milk and a cheese cake. The restaurant has a pretty relaxed American-diner kind of atmosphere. Interestingly, you can even smoke shisha while you are there.

Hungry Boy

Hungry boy is located just a stone throw away from the Shiori Station. You can get a Navy Burger for 1,200 yen or a 2 meat patties Navy Burger for 1,800 yen. The 190 g patty is said to be really succulent. Burgers come with home-made French fries. You can also order a burger-curry, cheese cake and milk set here.

Lastly...

If you feel like eating very meaty American-style burgers, Yokosuka is the place for you to go!
