Café De L'Ambre, A Staple In Ginza, Tokyo

Café De L'Ambre is truly a staple for coffee lovers in Tokyo. This institution in Ginza is run by coffee aficionados who are truly passionate about serving the perfect cup of coffee, in a retro setting.

Café de l'AMBRE

This beautiful "kissaten" (Japanese style cafe) is probably one of the most famous places to get hand-drip coffee. Their coffee isn't cheap, but you come here for the experience of a perfect cup of coffee, carefully hand dripped by a coffee-lover. If you don't know what to order, you can ask the owner to suggest something to your liking.
In all honesty, I am more of an espresso kinda gal, but I really like this cafe for the retro ambiance, the unique feel, and friendly service.

It's the kind of place you come to chat with an old friend, or to read a book, while slowly sipping that cup of delicately and perfectly hand dripped coffee.

Coffee Menu

Can you believe this place only serves coffee?
You can be slightly overwhelmed by the variety of coffee to choose from, so you can ask the staff to suggest something to your liking. How about some over 10 years old coffee?
You can get a lot of coffee-related menu items, such as coffee jelly (you would expect to see that in that sort of place), and coffee liqueur sherbet or pudding.
You can also get some original drinks, such as coffee with an egg yolk, or coffee in a champagne glass with milk on top.
Lili Wanderlust
I love travelling and discovering new cuisines. Japan has a panoply of local dishes to try. I also love yoga, coffee, reading, and cycling.
