Shinjuku Asia Yokocho: A Rooftop Beer Garden with a Southeast Asian Night Market Atmosphere!

This is one of the really fun places in Shinjuku to go out in groups! Shinjuku Asia Yokocho houses many cheap eateries serving cuisine from many parts of Asia. It has the rowdy vibes of yokocho back alleys but it's located on the rooftop of a Kabukicho building in Shinjuku.

Shinjuku Asia Yokocho

This is one of the really fun places in Shinjuku to go out in groups! Shinjuku Asia Yokocho houses many cheap eateries serving cuisine from many parts of Asia. It has the rowdy vibes of yokocho back alleys but it's located on the rooftop of a Kabukicho building in Shinjuku.
The place is located on the top floor of the Dai 2 Towa Kaikan, 1-21-1 Kabukicho, Shinjuku-ku district, Tokyo. It's easily accessible from the Shinjuku Station's East Exit (about a 5-minute walk). Once you get there, you'll immediately feel the vibes of the typically crowded and chaotic late-night drinking areas of Japan. People go there for the relatively cheap food (about 550 yen for a small portion a dish) and beer, and of course, to enjoy a rich variety of Asian cuisines!
Some parts of the Shinjuku Asia Yokocho are open to the sky, so it technically qualifies as a rooftop beer garden. What is quite unique here is the ordering system. You can choose a table and can order foods and drinks from any restaurant. This way, you don't have to change places everytime you want to try something from another restaurant.

Foods and Drinks

What's so nice here is that you can have cheap and delicious foods of Chinese, Korean, Thai and Malaysian cuisines and many more types! It's truly a melting pot of mostly Asian cuisines.
Chinese stir-fry
Same goes for the drinks and beers! It's really a free-for-all in terms of what is offered. You can have beers from around the world.
Korean Sake
Japanese nabe
Nepalese salad
Korean BBQ!
And many more types of dishes that are flavorful and often spicy! This place will make you feel as if you are traveling through southeast Asia. A definitely must-go place in Shinjuku, especially during a hot summer night. You'll definitely have a great time!
