A Look Inside Square Enix's Artnia Cafe: FINAL FANTASY Shrine Included!

Shinjuku

We went to see Artnia Cafe, a Square Enix themed cafe in Shinjuku, Tokyo. The place has some awesome game-themed food and drinks, AND it literally has a Final Fantasy mini-museum in it, as well as a boutique where you can buy all kinds of official goods! A must go for all the fans!

Feel free to follow favy!

Artnia Cafe

What might be easier to spot when looking for Artnia Cafe is the stately sky-scrapper housing the Square Enix HQ in downtown Shinjuku, Tokyo.

Artnia is located at its base. You can't really miss it when you get there, as it seems to be modelled off, quite appropriately, a Dragon Quest slime!

Indeed... The slime is, by the way, an official merchandise in the goods section.
interior_artnia
The interior is impossibly cool if you are a Square Enix fan. It's divided into two rooms: a cafe part with a goods section in it, and a Final Fantasy Shrine of sorts! First, let's talk about the cafe.

Food And Beverages

There is a good choice of sweet and savoury food on the menu. In my not-so-humble opinion as a huge Final Fantasy geek, the coolest things you can order are the lattes and pancakes.

Latte Art

For the latte art, you can choose from a couple of iconic Square Enix characters. This cactus really got me. The coffee was good too!

Fruit Pancakes

I never expect much from a game-themed cafe taste-wise, but these pancakes were actually excellent in their own rights. Both were a little under ¥1,000.

These chocobo chocolate-banana pancakes are topped with some whipped cream and chocolate fudge cubes.

These moogle ones had some really nice red berry syrup. Both pancakes are quite thick and super fluffy.

Final Fantasy Shrine

Half the fun of going to Square Enix Artnia Cafe is probably visiting this section! It's a Final Fantasy shrine, or museum of sorts, where elaborately crafted figurines and other artworks are displayed.
crystal_waterfall
The centrepiece of the room is a crystal waterfall.

With classical renditions of the most epic Final Fantasy tunes playing, the place is unbelievably atmospheric.

Here's a very nice depiction of many people's favorite FFVII's antagonists!

Boutique

The coolness and dark side of the Final Fantasy room is balanced out by the bright and cute boutique part of the cafe.

Before you leave, you'll probably want to take a good moment to check out the official merchandise. Stuffed animals and characters or keychains make exciting gifts!

Finally...

shiva
Square Enix' Artnia Cafe is an awesome place to go to, both for the cool memorabilia, the Final Fantasy shrine and the themed menu! The cafe is often serving new items with the release of new titles, so repeated visits are worth it too!
