Get that Beeeef! Yeah, you know it. Hakushu Teppanyaki is all about beef! This isn't a do-it-yourself kind of place. You leave it up to the chefs here to char the perfect steak. A small and friendly family-owned restaurant that's hard to look past. Jump right in!

Feel free to follow favy!

Give me char baby!

If you do a simple search in google "best restaurants Tokyo", this place is in the top 10; and it's not hard to wonder why. Hakushu Teppanyaki is a quaint, family-run restaurant with plenty of charm. For some customers, its "made" their trip to Japan and an amazing find amongst the organised chaos in the city of neon lights.
If you've never tried Japanese Kobe beef this could be one of the best places to give it a try. Hakushu is in plenty of Tokyo guidebooks and has a tonne of reviews already making it a super popular place for foreign charging in on their first Japanese teppanyaki experience. So many, in fact, that local Japanese have even said they were surprised to see so many foreigners enjoying the famous Kobe beef.
Be prepared to save up for this one. Only open for dinner, meals don't come cheap here but are for the most part totally worth the extra yen. Budget for around 10,000-14,000 per person and you'll be taken to another part of tastebud-heaven you haven't been before.

A very important side note - it's BYOB (as in Bring Your Own Bottle) which is definitely a plus if you plan on drinking a lot.
Sometimes it's hard to find little treasures like this place, however if you're up for the challenge of navigating your way through the back streets of Shibuya it's 110% worth the trip; no, scrap that, adventure!

Getting there

Located in the southwestern area on Shibuya, in little-known Sakuragaoka-cho, just a 5-minute walk from Shibuya station. Make sure to book in advance as this place gets busy in the evenings.
I've been traveling and eating my way around the world! Now I'm in Tokyo to share all my favourite spots! I spend my time traveling, surfing, hiking, camping and eating amazing food! My favourite Japanese food...Agedashi Tofu!
