Family Mart Japan Products: Get These Cheap Snacks and Sweets!

Family Mart is one of the major convenience store chains in Japan. Convenience stores are called by the Japanese "konbini", which is an abbreviation for the word "convenience". At Family Mart, you can buy a plethora of cheap snacks, desserts, and other products at any time of the day.

Feel free to follow favy!

Family Mart

Family Mart is known for having a particularly good selection of sweets and snacks. Many products change with the season or are sold for only a limited time. Here are a few items you might come across when you enter a Family Mart kombini.

Chocolate Eclair

It's hard not to be tempted by Family Mart's dessert selection. Look at this creamy chocolate eclair (ore no eclair, 221 yen) with custard and chocolate chip toppings. The store periodically releases new items such as this one, so every time you go, you might find something new that tickles your fancy.

Kiwi Cake Sandwich

For less than 300 yen, you can have this soft-breaded, cream and kiwi-filled dessert sandwich. Cream sandwiches are quite common, the kiwi filling is a new addition to the cream sandwich lineup!

Orange Yam Hot Bun

Don't be afraid to try something new. This orange yam hot bun is really delicious. It has a sticky texture that you might find interesting and a nice sweetness to it. They get sold out quickly so get yours if you have the chance to see one.

Rice Balls

Family Mart, you've done it again. This rice ball is unlike anything that's been made before. We don't know how they come up with these ideas, but it's certainly interesting to look at. It contains seaweed and okaka (bonito fish flakes). You can get all kinds of standard onigiri as well if you're looking for a snack or light meal.

If you're looking for a quick warm meal, you might want to try Family Mart's oden. They start offering it in the fall. Unlike other konbini, oden stands are placed in front of the cash register and you get to pick yourself the items you want in your bowl. There are sometimes periods during which the oden ingredients are sold at a good discount. This is the best konbini meal on cold days.
