Shinpuku Saikan is a chain restaurant that originated in Kyoto and has 70 years of history. There is a branch in Azabu Juban, Tokyo. Just a minute walk from the 5a exit of Azabu Juban station on the Namboku line, or 3 minutes walk from the 7th exit of Azabu Juban station on the Toei Oedo line.

The interior is like a typical ramen shop in Japan. They have both counter and table seats.

Time to eat

This is their signature menu "Chuka soba" (700 yen).

The unique point is the color of the soup. It has black ramen soup which is in fact not as salty as it looks, but is actually very mild and flavorful. The secret of the color is that they use "pure soy sauce" for the soup.

The ramen is topped with a lot of crispy chopped green onions and bean sprouts which add a nice texture.

The slices of roast pork belly are tender and nicely fatty.

Their noodles are made at the original shop in Kyoto. They go well with the soup and the toppings.

Lastly...

If you are a ramen lover, you need to try their black ramen out! The mild, flavorful ramen would be good to eat for lunch, dinner, and after drinking too!

I love traveling and eating. My favorites are everything matcha and cheesecakes.
