Instead of first come first serve basis, there are lotteries for the marathon and the lottery result will be out from September 25th,2018 until October 5th,2018. Tokyo marathon has created a running boom in the country where you can see many other full marathons or half marathons throughout the year.

Watching the runners arriving at the finish line is the most exciting part of the marathon.

Since 2016, runners from other countries are opened to compete in the Semi-Elite (Overseas) category. However, all applicants must have met the standard qualifying time in the full marathon races (42.195km) held in 2016 and 2017. For instance, only men with a run time of 2:21:01〜2:45:00, and women with a run time of 2:52:01〜3:30:00 are eligible to participate in the race.

Run with Heart

There is also a special marathon for people who run for a charitable cause. 4000 Charity Runners partake in that event.
