Tokyo Auto Salon: Japan's Grandest Auto Show!

Every year in January is held the Tokyo Auto Salon at the Makuhari Messe convention center in Chiba city, a suburb of Tokyo. If you are a motor-vehicle enthusiast, this event is well-worth the go!

Tokyo Auto Salon

The Tokyo Auto Salon is one of the best of its kind globally according to many critics and reviews. It specializes in showcasing modified and tuned cars. The event has grown since its inception in 1983 to a world-class gigantic car show now attracting around 300,000 visitors a year.
The Makuhari Messe venue has a surface of over 70,000 square meters! Over 800 vehicles are featured.
And over 3,000 booths sell aftermarket car accessories and motorsport merchandise such as auto-related video games. The event is Hosted by the Nippon Auto Parts Aftermarket Committee.
The stated purpose of the Tokyo Auto Salon is to showcase the latest car technological advances, as well as to showcase and sell cars and auto accessories. You can actually buy that car you find really cool if you have the money.
There is plenty of entertainment at the event. You will see "Booth Babes" everywhere. They sometimes have their own fan base and people love to take pictures of them. Famous entertainers and musicians perform shows during the event as well.
The annual show is held in January. You can buy advance tickets from November for 1,800 yen or buy them at the door for 2,200 yen. The 2018 edition will be held from January 12 to 14. Have a look at the official information page for more details.


If you are interested in this event, note that there are 6 international hotels in the vicinity of the Makuhari Messe convention hall. It takes about 1 hour from Tokyo to get there by train. Makuhari Hongo is the nearest station.
