10 Chinese Restaurants You Must Visit in Yokohama's Chinatown

While visiting Yokohama's Chinatown, you might get a little overwhelmed by all the restaurants it has to offer. We narrowed down the list to the top 10 restaurants you need to try while visiting the area. Some are for fine dining, while others are casual.

Karyu

Karyu is on the fine dining end of the spectrum and is a delicious experience in Yokohama.Located close to the Minatomirai station, in Yokahama, this restaurant is on the 31st floor. There is a panoramic view of the Bay Bridge to enjoy while trying the delicious modern Chinese cuisine that is combined with fine dining. You can also try the dimsum for lunch.

Bairan

This restaurant is near the port and close to the Yamashita park. The atmosphere is quite typical of a Chinese restaurant. The Bairan fried noodles is definitely their most famous dish. It's starchy pork and vegetables under a blanket of crispy noodles. Dumplings are also quite popular.

Shumien

This restaurant is a few minutes walk from Motomachi-Chukakai.The staple dish is the "Minced Pork Rice (Lu Ro Fan)- “thickly sliced pork ribs simmered for six and a half hours in shaoxingjiu liquor. It also comes with rice, wonton soup (also delicious!) and a small dessert. It is very affordable and delicious.

Heichinrou

A few minutes away from Motomachi-Chukagai station, this restaurant offers multi-course meals and is slightly pricier than the surrounding restaurants, but it is worth the experience. You should order many dishes and share them. Please note that many items on the menu are single items, but you do pay for quality. We recommend the dimsum!

Mabo Doufu ChenKenichi

The staple dish of this restaurant is...yep! You guessed it! Mabo Doufu! It is a popular Chinese dish of spicy seasoned ground meat sauce with pieces of tofu served with rice. It is the best Mabo Doufu in Yokohama, yet it is still reasonably-priced.
This restaurant is located a few minutes away from the Minatomirai station.

Keitokuchin

Keitokuchin is also located in the heart of Chinatown in Yokohama. They serve authentic Sichuanese food, which is hot and spicy, unlike the type of Chinese food that is adapted for the Japanese palate. They also serve dim sum all day, which is quite lovely.

Douhatsu Honkan

Douhatsu Honten is at the center of Yokohama's Chinatown, towards the port.
They serve delicious Chinese food, you should have the roast pork, it's probably the best you'll have in Japan!
The lunch set is only ¥860 (picture below), and the course menu starts at ¥4,860.

Manchinro Honten

Manchinro is a staple in Yokohama's Chinatown as it was one of the first restaurants to open in the area; The restaurant was established in 1894. Their motto is "a balanced diet for a healthy body" and they pride themselves on being additive and preservative free! The lunch course is between ¥2,800 and ¥5,500 and is quite generous! You can also have a noodle or rice lunch starting at ¥1,200 yen. Dinner courses start at ¥6,000 yen.

Shatenki

This restaurant specializes in "congee" (rice porridge) and is located in Yokohama's Chinatown, a few minutes from the port. You should definitely try the prawn and scallops porridge. This place is quite popular so it's very probable that there will be a line-up during the weekend!

Shōfukumon

Shofukumon is a Cantonese restaurant in Chinatown. Lunch starts at 2,500 yen for the sturgeon fin soup. The dinner course starts at 3,500 yen and is great too. The service is quick and ordering is really easy since you order via a tablet. For those with a sweet tooth, they have good desserts as well.
