HARD ROCK CAFE, TOKYO (ハード ロック カフェ)
Tokyo has had it's very own Hard Rock Cafe since 1983 when the first location opened in Roppongi. The iconic chain quickly became a gathering place for rock lovers in Tokyo. It's conveniently located in Roppongi, an area very popular with western tourists. Many live events are hosted in Roppongi and the Hard Rock Cafe became a gathering place for fans, and sometimes even musicians to gather after and before concerts.
This is the original Hard Rock Cafe in Roppongi. The exterior is decorated with the huge signature guitar signboard.
Staying true to its glamorous image, at night, the exterior is lit with 3D projection mapping technology and the result is pretty cool!
As for the interior, it was recently renewed to be as cutting edge and modern as ever. The restaurant is really well rated by Japanese customers according to many online sources and it is a good place to go as well if you are a foreigner who cannot speak Japanese as the manager is a native English speaker and is very hospitable. The menus are also available in English.
There is another Hard Rock Cafe location in Tokyo since 2002. You can find it inside the Ueno Station. So this might be a good gathering point when you want to visit the Ueno Park of the famous back alley area called Ame Yokocho.
Food, Drinks, and Prices
This is the ultimate burger found at Hard Rock Cafe. For a hefty 1,980 yen it can be yours. Sounds expensive but you shouldn't be too hungry after eating it because it contains smoked bacon, cheddar cheese, a fried onion ring, some lettuce and a slice of tomato.
You can get this popular jumbo combo set which includes all of Hard Rock Cafe's signature appetizers: onion rings, tupelo chicken tenders, spinach artichoke dip and potato skins. You get so many great-tasting American finger foods on one platter! The price is 3680 yen so this is perfect to share in a group.
Of course, Hard Rock Cafe is well-known for its wide selection of funky cocktails and other drinks. The average price is around 1,000 yen. You can also get super rich, cream topped coffee cocktails made from Baileys Irish Cream.
To finish off your meal, you can always order some of the places classic desserts. The gooey, chocolaty hot fudge browny (1,080 yen) is a sure bet!
