It's conveniently located in Roppongi, an area very popular with western tourists. Many live events are hosted in Roppongi and the Hard Rock Cafe became a gathering place for fans, and sometimes even musicians to gather after and before concerts.

Staying true to its glamorous image, at night, the exterior is lit with 3D projection mapping technology and the result is pretty cool!
As for the interior, it was recently renewed to be as cutting edge and modern as ever. The restaurant is really well rated by Japanese customers according to many online sources and it is a good place to go as well if you are a foreigner who cannot speak Japanese as the manager is a native English speaker and is very hospitable. The menus are also available in English.
There is another Hard Rock Cafe location in Tokyo since 2002. You can find it inside the Ueno Station. So this might be a good gathering point when you want to visit the Ueno Park of the famous back alley area called Ame Yokocho.
