Roi Khon: Authentic Thai Restaurant In Minato-ku, Tokyo, Serving A Killer Massaman Curry!
If you are near the Hamamatsu-cho Station in Minato-ku, Tokyo, and are craving Thai food, Roi Khon is the place you must go to!
Feel free to follow favy!
Roi Khon is located a 2-minute walk from the North Exit of the JR Hamamatsucho Station, or at a 30-second walk from the Toei Daimon Station's B4 Exit. It's on the basement floor. The place has a really nice Thai decor and the food is authentic.
The place is open for dinner and lunch, but the lunchtime specials are the most worth it. For less than ¥1,000, you get some hearty Thai meal sets that include, a salad, rice, some other small side dishes depending on the set, and a simple dessert. The water has some jasmine in it and is very refreshing!
You can get a dish called the Massaman Curry here. This is not that often available at Thai restaurants in Tokyo. It has a deep, rich flavor and lots of meat. The flavor is both lemony (probably from the lemongrass) and spicy and the base of the soup comes from a rich coconut cream. There is also some peanut flavors in it. It tastes great and is very hearty. This dish was recommended by the waiter and it did not disappoint.
Tom Yum Soup
Another good choice has to be the Tom Yum Soup. It has a good balance of sour and spicy, and the coriander really adds a fresh Thai taste.
The other dish that was recommended was the Gapao Rice. You get a generous amount of mincemeat that is both savory and a little sweet. The balance is just right and it has a deepness in the taste that comes from the fish sauce that is so addictive, which is probably why this is the most popular dish. It is a little spicy but nothing too extreme. There are some Thai condiments on the table so you can adjust the level of spiciness of your dishes.
And why not have a nice cool beer with your spicy Thai food? The Singha Beer they have on the menu is a great choice.
A great overall Thai restaurant in Minato-ku, Tokyo, to have a nice lunch set. If you got for dinner, expect to pay around ￥2,000～￥2,999.
