Sutadon literally translates to stamina bowl. Just by looking at the picture you should understand why. These bowls are packed with meat, topped with a raw egg and have plenty of nira (Chinese chive). Densetsu Sutadonya is a popular chain with 79 restaurants across Japan. It also goes under the name of Meibutsu Sutadon no Mise.

Look at the thickness of these pieces of meat! The meat has a good amount of fat and a natural sweetness to it. This particular one is a "maruchou" tripe, a chewy kind of meat. The flavor spreads in your mouth with every bite.

Most meat toppings have a much more tender texture than tripes. The more thin the meat is, the more intense is the flavor!

The meat goes wonderfully well with the rice and the vegetables added to the dish. You'll find in it some Chinese chive and cabbage. Chinese chive is said to be a stamina-enhancing vegetable.

If the volume seems too big, you can opt for smaller sizes. The normal size bowls are usually over 1kg in weight. For a little extra, if you are very hungry, you can get a large size as well. These are available throughout Japan at Densetsu no Sutadonya and Meibutsu Sutadon no Mise.
