Sakura (cherry blossoms)
This is a Starbucks Japan drink series people get excited about because it's a sure sign that spring is coming! The Sakura (cherry blossom) beverages are back this year, as they have since 2002, and this time, they have a different twist: the base taste is not only sakura-flavored but also has strawberries. Sakura and strawberries? Not a bad a combination when you think of it, and it makes sense color wise as well. The beverages are a nice pink that is sure to provoke a good many "kawaii!" (cute) from people across the country. Here's this year's line up.

Sakura Strawberry Pink Mochi Frappuccino (Tall ¥470)

The most interesting addition to this year's Frappuccino is the mochi sakura sauce in which you'll find small pieces of rice cake made from coarse rice powder. It gives it a chewy texture that is called "motchi motchi" in Japanese. Aside from that, there are some chocolate chips that are strawberry flavored that should harmonize well with the taste of sakura.

Sakura Strawberry Pink Milk Latte (Tall ¥470)

The Milk Latte has the distinction of having some real, finely cut sakura petals in it. No mochi or chocolate chips in this one.

Sakura Strawberry Pink Tea (Tall ¥470)

For something less sweet, there is this herbal tea that is camomille base. Sakura strawberry sauce is added and some dehydrated frozen strawberries.
