Ninja Akasaka: A Themed Restaurant With (Actually) Good Food In Tokyo

If you're looking for things to do in Akasaka, Tokyo, going to the ninja restaurant should be something to consider. Not only do you get a good ninja show, but the food is great too!

Feel free to follow favy!

Ninja Akasaka

In Akasaka, there is a famous restaurant themed on one of Japan's most interesting feudal stealthy mercenary: the ninja. You might think you should go there for pure entertainment reasons, but actually, the food served is refined and constitutes a nice gastronomic experience in itself. So if you are a ninja admirer or just want to have great "washoku" (Japanese traditional food), you should visit Ninja Akasaka.
The restaurant is located near the Akasaka Mitsuke Station. It's quite a big restaurant, having 143 seats, but since it is very popular, it's better to make a reservation beforehand. Half of the fun is being served by the ninja waiters - which also do impressive performances - and enjoying the ninja-themed foods and decor, but the other half of the pleasure is derived from having great-tasting, refined food that we'll introduce below.

The Menu

Ninja Akasaka has a rich choice of courses that range in price from ¥5,700 to ¥20,000. They cater to the needs of tourists from around the world so they have two vegan courses and one with no pork and alcohol.

Try The YAMATO Spirit Course at ¥6,999

There are 13 courses to choose from, including a kid's plate. The Yamato is an excellent course to have because it is comparatively not as expensive as most others and you get lots of variety (11 servings). You'll be served things such as the "Shuriken star-blades grissini", a "Special stone-boiled soup", an assortment of sushi, and three kinds of sweets ("Ninja-style cream puff", sherbet and the day's dessert). The quality of the food is what you would get at a high-end restaurant, unlike other themed restaurants in Tokyo which do have a nice decor but serve dishes that are very standard in quality.
The toppings of the sushi plate vary depending on what is in-season and available at the fish market.
A cheesecake dessert you'll get as part of many courses.
This beautiful bonsai-shaped work of art is another dessert. It's almost too nice eat!

Other Courses

As we have mentioned, there is a no pork course which includes delicious sauteed salmon.
And there is this "pseudo-hotpot" with vegetables and miso that is as tasty as it is visually interesting. The Vegan course also includes vegetable sushi.
You can go all out and order the "Zeitaku" (luxury) course for ¥20,000. The expensive feast includes a caviar tasting set, some prime wagyu beef and a deluxe sushi assortment.

There is, of course, a nice menu for cocktails and drinks!

Ninja Akasaka is the ideal place to go with a group of friends. You'll be thoroughly entertained. We've only mentioned the courses above by note that you can order a la carte as well.

On a side note, there is also a famous ninja restaurant in Kyoto you might want to check out as well. Please, see the link below for information on that one.
