Kyoto City

Kyoto Yoshikawa is a beautiful inn in Kyoto which also offers sublime traditional Japanese dining. They are the embodiment of Japanese "omotenashi" (hospitality).

Located 5 minute from Kyoto shiyakusho-mae station by walk, this tempura restaurant gives you the ultimate tempura experience.

This very popular restaurant serves great quality of tempura. The chefs will cook your tempura in front of you, so you can eat freshly fried tempura.

They have course menus for lunch and dinner and depending on whether you dine in the private room or at the counter, the price varies quite a lot. The tatami rooms offer a traditional Japanese experience, whereas the counter offers a more casual dining experience.

For guests staying overnight, there is also the possibility of having shabu shabu in your room. It is quite a lovely hotel by the way. And, if ever you happen to be travelling with your pet, it can stay at the neighboring hotel and it can also get treatments. You and your pet can have a lovely stay in Kyoto!

Menu

Kaiseki

This section offers a traditional Japanese dining experience. Kaiseki cuisine is a series of small dishes served one after the other.
You can have a tempura kaiseki lunch for 10,000-25,000 yen, and for dinner, it is 12,000-25,000 yen.
Each dish is so beautifully presented, they are like pieces of art that are meant to be enjoyed by all your senses.

The dishes are so incredibly delicate and beautiful. What a pleasure for the eyes and the palate!

Tempura Counter Bar

This section is more casual, where you can enjoy delicious tempura at the bar counter. Reservations are not necessary, however, the restaurant has a capacity of up to 30 people, so you might have to wait in line.

The restaurant still has a typical Kyoto feel to it, but it isn't as fancy as the kaiseki section. The lunch course is 3,000-4,000 yen, and the dinner course is 8,000-10,000 yen.

Finally...

If you want to have a delicious tempura dining experience in Kyoto, you should stop by Kyoto Yoshikawa for traditional kaiseki dining, or a more casual tempura bar counter experience. Cheers!

I love travelling and discovering new cuisines. Japan has a panoply of local dishes to try. I also love yoga, coffee, reading, and cycling.
