3 Jazz Bars And Cafes In Sapporo Worth Discovering!


Whether you want to have a relaxing lunch break with the sound of jazz or want to enjoy some excellent night-time live jazz jams, Sapporo has some little gems worth going to. Here is our selection of three jazz bars and cafes really worth going to in Sapporo.

For a meal, coffee or some drinks while enjoying jazz music in a relaxing, unpretentious atmosphere, BOSSA is one of the best places to go. The place is a jazz record library with some 14,000 records. From 11 AM to 4 PM there is a ¥880 lunch set that includes either a pasta dish or a pizza and a coffee or juice. You can order a la carte coffees, teas, juices, etc. for about ¥500. From the evening the place has more of a bar atmosphere. They offer an interesting all-you-can-drink cocktail option for just ¥1,850 for two hours. You can choose from about 90 types of cocktails. Pasta dishes are also available.
BOSSA is located at a 3-minute walk from the Tanukikoji Station.

jazz live Slow boat

This jazz bar is a hidden gem. The place is a popular spot for Jazz lovers of Sapporo, and as such, most of the people you'll see there are local frequent visitors. The bar has some professional shows and "amateur" jazz sessions (most of which are really great musicians) on a daily basis. There is a ¥1,000 cover charge plus a "live charge" that is on average ¥2,000. Performances usually start around 20:30. Drinks are about ¥700. The place is not exactly easy to find because it is on the 4th floor of a building with many tenant shops. It might be a bit intimidating to walk in but everyone is quite friendly. This is definitely worth the go if you are in a Jazz mood in Sapporo.

Famous Door

Famous Door is a dining bar serving Cajun and Creole-inspired cuisine made from local seafood and produces Hokkaido is famous for. If you feel more like drinking than dining, you might be interested to know that they have various affordable all-you-can-drink options. The atmosphere is very New Orleans-like in the decor and because of the jazz music that is played. Occasionally there are some live performances as well!
