5 Yakiniku Restaurants In Yokohama You Can't Go Wrong With

Yakiniku, or Japanese BBQ, is perhaps one of the most popular and interesting dining experiences you can have in Japan. If you want to try that cuisine in Yokohama, here are definitely some of the best places to go to!

Jiromaru 治郎丸

If you're a yakiniku lover you'll be glad to know about this restaurant which has the layout of a ramen joint. You sit at a counter where there are small roasters prepared for you. The trade-off for the tight space is that they serve really good cuts at prices that are among the cheapest for the quality. You'll see on the wall the items listed for the day with an A4 or A5 note, which are the two top quality in terms of beef cuts.

Shigekichi しげ吉 横浜元町店

This restaurant is the best place to go in the low to mid-range price. You can get some course meals from ¥2,500 to ¥5,500. The cheaper courses have less rare meat cuts, whereas the expensive ones have very fine quality wagyu beef rare cuts and even some seafood. With a course, for an extra ¥1,500, you can add an all-you-can-drink option of 2h (+¥500 for every additional 30 minutes).
Located near the Ishikawacho Station.

Sumiyakishokunin 炭焼喰人

Sumiyakishokunin is well-known as a top-of-its-class yakiniku restaurant. They serve some really good quality items, a lot of which is produced domestically. So you have the chance to try here rare cuts of wagyu beef and also some aged beef. The vegetables are of excellent quality too. Not only is the food great, but the staff is very helpful too. They will assist you with the grilling if you wish. They also serve some fine sake and Japanese spirits.

Tsuruya つる屋

This restaurant specializes in serving Mie Prefecture's Matsuzaka beef grilled on charcoal roasters. In spite of being very good quality Japanese beef, the courses start at ¥3,800, and the most expensive one is ¥5,800. You can also order plates a la carte from about ¥700 to ¥2,900. The place is equipped with horigotatsu seats, which are traditional low tables with a hole beneath the tables for the legs.

Yakiniku Tokyosan 焼肉 東京山

This is an excellent restaurant in the mid-range price. For lunch they have special that will cost you around ¥1,000 to ¥1,999, whereas dinner might be about ¥5,000 if you have a couple of drinks. They plates are about ¥1,000 per order. There are some course that come with many services of different cuts that start at around ¥3,000 and can go up to ¥10,000 for some really fine yakiniku. The restaurant specializes in Korean cuisine, some make sure to try plenty of kimchi and salads side orders!
