Kyoto Katsugyu opened in June 2018 a new restaurant serving its famous beef cutlets. For any fan of Japanese-style deep-fried foods, beef cutlets (gyukatsu) are a must try! Here's what you can expect to find at Kyoto Katsugyu in Kobe.

A new Kyoto Katsugyu restaurant has just opened in Kobe (June 2018). The popular restaurant that specializes in deep-fried beef cutlets is located near Sannomiya Station. People were queuing for a long time to get in on the opening day - it's apparently that good!

The inside has a warm atmosphere, a couple of tables and counter seats. Seems like a good restaurant to walk in alone or in small groups.

Gyukatsu: Deep-Fried Beef Cutlets

You may know that tonkatsu 豚カツ, or pork cutlets, is a very popular kind of deep-fried food in Japan. Nowadays, gyukatsu 牛カツ, or beef cutlets, are also quite popular! Kyoto Katsugyu, serves them as individual dishes or as part of sets for about ¥1,500 or less.

They are deep-fried for 60 seconds so the outside is nice and crispy and the inside is medium rare, juicy and full of natural umami. Eat it with a little piece of wasabi and have it with the house special dipping sauce or sauce.

To underscore the opening of the first restaurant in Kobe, Kyoto Katsugyu is releasing a Kobe-only curry gyukatsu dish. The combination will surely please the many Japanese curry fans. Pork cutlets and curry is very good, so why not give it a try with beef?
