Murugi Curry

Murigi in Shibuya is one of Tokyo's most famous curry houses. It is located at about a 7-minute walk from the Hachiko Exit of the JR Shibuya Station.

The Curry

Murugi has been loved by many generations of curry fans in Japan. It's been around since 1951. And the recipe and ambiance of the restaurant haven't changed.
Their signature curry consists of a mountain of rice with some rich roux in which they add hard boiled eggs. This is the most classic you can order. For ¥50 extra you can add a little more spiciness or sweetness, or for ¥100 extra you can make it very spicy. As for the volume, the standard one is ¥1,050 and the large size is ¥1,400.
You can have the same dish without the egg for ¥50 less.
Many people order the classic curry with some cheese in it.
If you're quite hungry, have it with an extra egg (just ¥50 extra).
If you want, have a drink too while you're there. They serve beer for ¥600 and they also have a yogourt drink at ¥250 which goes really well with the curry.

Finally...

Murugi just has a few variations of its outstanding curry. The dish has been popular for decades. Not many restaurants in Tokyo have such a long history. Give it a try if you can.
