Best Restaurants in Shinjuku, Tokyo!

Shinjuku

If you're wondering as to which restaurant to try in Shinjuku, these are some must-try restaurants, all genres included. Ramen, shabu shabu, sushi, tempura, etc.

Feel free to follow favy!

Menya Musashi Shinjuku (麺屋武蔵新宿総本店)

Menya_Musashi_Ramen
Menya Musashi ramen looks and tastes so amazing in large part because of the huge pieces of chashu pork that you get as a topping. These really put to shame the flimsy slices of chashu you get in a standard ramen bowl.
The most popular item is the Musashi Ramen at ¥1,150. Aside from the meat, it has the standard pieces of bamboo shoots, green onions, and a whole half-boiled egg. For ¥1,450 you can have the same dish but with an extra two pieces of pork. For ¥900 you can have one with just one piece (which is still pretty filling) and without the egg. You can buy more toppings at a little extra cost.

Rokkasen (六歌仙)

Rokkasen is a "shabu-shabu", "yakiniku" and "sukiyaki" restaurant in Shinjuku. All of those are meals you cook yourself, "shabu shabu" and "sukiyaki" are cooked in a broth, whereas "yakiniku" is cooked on a grill. They were awarded a certificate of excellence by Trip Advisor three consecutive years. And they were the best-rated restaurant in Shinjuku, out of 7,490 restaurants that's incredible!
The lunch set starts at ¥2,970, and you can get thick slices of meat with rice, some side dishes, etc. For the dinner course, you can for example choose the "Heian course" for ¥7,020/person; it includes yakiniku meat, crab, rice, kimchee, etc.

Sushi-Zanmai (すしざんまい)

Sushi Zanmai is a popular sushi restaurant chain in Japan. The restaurant is big and menus are available in English so it is one of the lesser intimidating places to walk into if you don't speak or read Japanese and are not a sushi connoisseur. For the price the quality is excellent. They have daily recommendations depending on what is in-season and available at the fish market. Expect to pay from ¥1,000-¥3,000 for lunch or dinner.

Shin Udon (うどん 慎)

This intimate udon restaurant serves incredible udon dishes, hot and cold. You will have to wait in line here since this place is tiny and also very popular. Most dishes are around 1,000 yen, you can try many interesting variations. You can have light and crispy tempura with udon, or slices of pork with udon.

Tempura Tsunahachi (天ぷら新宿つな八)

Established in 1924, Tsunahachi has been providing the best service and tempura for customers to people in Japan. They have opened their stores in other regions of Japan including Sapporo, Osaka and Fukuoka. They offer fresh tempura that uses seasonal ingredients, and they use white sesame oil to cook. They also have a Tokyo-limited Kirin beer that you can only try at stores in Tokyo! Their seasonal menu is also popular, and you can enjoy it from ¥3,000~7,000. Just a 3-minute walk from Shinjuku Sancho-me station.
