Meat Yazawa (Mitoyazawa): Best Affordable Steak House In Tokyo!


This restaurant is one of the most talked about in Tokyo. Located near the Gotanda station in Shinagawa-ku, it serves outstanding Hamburg steak and steaks at a really reasonable price.

Meat Yazawa ミートヤザワ

Meat Yazawa, pronounced "mitoyazawa" in Japanese, is a super popular restaurant located at a 4-minute walk from the Gotanda Station in Shinagawa-ku.
You cannot make a reservation to get in so you might have to wait in line to get in, but it's well worth it!


The claim to fame of the restaurant is it serves only A-5 (highest rank) quality wagyu Japanese beef for their steaks and mainly A-5 rank for their Hamburg steaks. In other words, the quality is amazing and the price is pretty affordable. Most people report paying between ¥1,000 to ¥2,000 for lunch and ¥2,000 to ¥3,000 for dinner.

Hamburg Steak

Many people order the Hamburg steak without any toppings. The simple reason is that it is made of 100% Japanese black cattle, is impossibly succulent. The natural umami of the top-quality meat is enough.

Cheese Hamburg Steak

If you want something richer, have it with some melted cheese as a topping. It comes with a demi-glace sauce. This is a very popular choice as well.

Egg & Cheese Hamburg Steak

This one is incredibly delicious with an egg with a huge, creamy yolk as a topping. In Japan, eggs and Hamburg steaks are a classic combination. Meat Yazawa's version is jaw-droppingly tantalizing. You won't go wrong with this one is you want something hearty.


Meat Yazawa is also famous for its teppanyaki cooked steaks. Served piping hot on an iron plate, you can have various cuts of beef, including filet mignon.
