Weather In Japan In October. Temperatures, Precipitation & Humidity

Weather In October


In October, the average high temperature in most of Japan ranges from about 15 C (59 F) on the northernmost main island of Hokkaido to about 23 C (73 F) on the southernmost main island of Kyushu. The southern archipelago prefecture of Okinawa is the only part that has average temperatures that are still summer-like (in the upper twenties).

As a reference, here is the average high temperature in October for some major cities in Japan from north to south.

Sapporo, Hokkaido: 16.2 C (61.2 F)
Sendai, northern Honshu: 19.4 C (66.9 F)
Tokyo, central Honshu: 21.5 C (70.7 F)
Osaka, southern Honshu: 23.3 C (73.9 F)
Fukuoka, Kyushu: 23.4 C (74.1 F)
Naha, Okinawa: 27.9 C (82.2 F)

Aside from the dropping temperatures compared to September, the humidity also drops to more comfortable levels.

Rain & Humidity

Typhoon season is drawing to an end in October so there is a marked drop in the average amount of precipitation compared to the month of September everywhere in Japan. There are more days without any precipitation as well, and, as previously mentioned, the relative humidity also falls.

Sapporo, Hokkaido: 13.9
Sendai, northern Honshu: 9.2
Tokyo, central Honshu: 10.8
Osaka, southern Honshu: 8.7
Fukuoka, Kyushu: 7.3
