Kiba in Koto-ku

Kiba is an area that is part of Koto-ku (江東区) in eastern Tokyo. It is at a 3-kilometre distance from Tokyo Station to the east, on the other side of the Sumida river. You can get there by the Kiba Station of the Toyosu Subway Line.

Kiba Park

The most interesting spot in the area is probably the Kiba park, which is a fairly large park for central Tokyo. It is divided into two parts by a river and is a popular place to jog, has tennis courts, playgrounds where kids can play in the water, and is also a great spot for barbecuing in the city. It is particularly nice during sakura season when the cherry blossoms are in bloom.

Museum Of Contemporary Art Tokyo 東京都現代美術館

Within the park, there is also a museum of contemporary art that has collections by Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, and Tokujin Yoshika.

Note: Closed for renovation until March 2019.

Menya Kisso 麺屋吉左右

One of the most talked-about ramen joint in Tokyo happens to be near the Kiba Station. Buy your ticket outside before waiting in line. There does tend to be people lining in front because it is really popular but people get in and out quickly. The rich broth is made from a mix of fish and pork. The noodles are homemade. It's hard to beat this kind of ramen.

Tandoor Bar Kamarupuru タンドールバル カマルプール

Interestingly, Kiba also has one of the best Indian restaurants in Tokyo. Tandoor Bar Kamarupuru serves healthy Indian cuisine with a focus on making meals with lots of fresh vegetables. They cook using a traditional Indian tandoor type of oven. It's the best way to cook tandoori chicken and Indian flatbreads. There are also some vegetarian options.
