Things To Do In Hongo

Hongo is an area in the northern part of Bunkyo ward of Tokyo and home to the prestigious Tokyo University. It is served by the Oedo and Marunouchi Subway lines' Hongo Sanchome Station.

Visit The Campus Of Tokyo University

Much of the campus of the Universtiy of Tokyo is open to the public. You can take a stroll around and admire the old architecture of the university established in 1877.

Kuriakashi Kurogi 廚菓子くろぎ

On the campus, there is one of the best cafes in the area where you can have traditional sweets. If you visit in the summertime, you should definitely try their kakigori (shaved ice).

Japan Football (Soccer) Museum

You can visit the Japan Football Museum in Hongo. There is an admission-free section and a zone where admission is ¥500. Fans of the sport find it well worth the visit. A point of interest of the museum is the exhibition of many old team jerseys.

Hongo-Kyusuijo Park

If you are looking for a peaceful green oasis, there is the Hongo-Kyusuijo Park. The park has a traditional Japanese section as well as a French section. It is famous for its roses.
