Kohaku: An Absolutely Sublime 3-Star Michelin Restaurant in Kagurazaka, Tokyo

Kohaku is an absolutely beautiful restaurant located in traditional Kagurazaka. Kagurazaka is a location in Shinjuku which is sometimes nicknamed "Little Kyoto" because of its traditional feel and old geisha houses who were transformed into stunning restaurants.
The restaurant is run by chef Koji Koizumi, an incredibly skilled and detail-oriented chef. The dishes served are meticulously prepared classic Japanese cuisine. It's the creme de la creme in terms of Japanese elegance and refinement. Given the popularity of this restaurant, a reservation is required.


The dishes are prepared with the uttermost care, seeing the chef at work is like seeing a martial arts professional putting to work years of hard work. The particular dish shown above is a aju fish jumping into a sea of truffle and dashi.
Expect to pay over ¥24,000 for dinner, excluding a 5% service charge. You will get an incredible 11-course meal and the waiter/waitress will take the time to explain each dish.
Although it is a Japanese restaurant, they also have a very nice selection of wine.
The chef uses ingredients which are unusual in Japanese cuisine, such as cheese. The ingredients come together so beautifully, a lot of people say it might be the best restaurant they've ever eaten at. The dish shown above is a dessert made of watermelon and red bean paste.
