This tiny shop of seven counter seats is so worth the go for just a great kaisendon (bowl of rice with various sushi toppings) at an unbeatable price. Everything is so fresh and well-prepared and presented. For lunch, you can eat for around ¥1,000 and for dinner if you want something more luxurious you can ask for the omakase course (chef's selection) of seasonal sushi that costs between ¥3,000 and ¥5,000.
Lunchtime during which they serve set meals is from 11 AM to 3 PM. There are plenty of choices under ¥1,000 and you can get extra rice for free. It's a pretty big place and its open 24h every day of the year, so it a good spot to drink with friends until the wee hours of the morning too. If you want to drink, you should try their shochu, which is they are known to be particular about.
Sushi Miyabi 寿司 雅
Another small place with just counter seats that is so excellent for sushi at a bargain price. You can get a 10-sushi piece set for about ¥1,000 that comes with an aka-dashi soup. Notice how the neta of the maki sushi is huge? You really get the bang for the buck for fresh sushi here. For alcohol, their sake is said to be nice.
Located an eight-minute walk from the Sannomiya Station.
You have to go here for the kaisendon! They serve one of the most beautiful that I've ever seen. With so many kinds of perfectly placed neta on them, they almost look too beautiful to be eaten. Portions are generous too.
Located a 5-minute walk from the Kasuganomichi Station.
Higaki is open from 10:00 to 19:00 or until they run out of neta. It does happen because this little restaurant is super popular. People rave about their sushi, particularly their anago (conger eel) box-pressed sushi. There are just 8 seats to eat in-store or you can have your order to take-out.
