A Hidden Gem in Tokyo: The Lovely Restaurants in Kichijoji

Kichijoji might not be well-known by those by travelling through Tokyo, but it is a favourite for Japanese!! It is was voted last year the most popular neighbourhood to live in in Tokyo. Why you may ask? Because you can get downtown (Shinjuku/Shibuya) with an express train in less than 20 minutes, but it is recluded enough to be calm. There is a huge and beautiful park, all the types of cuisines you can think of, plenty of small and cute cafes, good places to go shopping no matter your taste. In other words, you need to see it for yourself! You can easily spend the day there blissfully hopping from one store to another.

Feel free to follow favy!

Peppermint Cafe

This very popular cafe in Kichijoji is a great place to have Thai food. Not only is the food great, but the setting is so unique. Right at the centre of the park, you feel like you're eating lunch in the middle of the forest. Lunch goes for about ¥1,000.
We highly suggest this restaurant, but you might have to wait in line. But hey, at least the scenery is great.

Starbucks

Right at the entrance of the park, why not enjoy Starbuck's seasonal summer drinks on their beautiful terrace? This place is dog-friendly, so if you love dogs, it's a great place to go. The place tends to get full quickly, but you can always get a take-out order and take a stroll around the park.

Cafe Rigoletto

This Italian restaurant is a few minutes from the station and is actually huge! It is perfect for a party, or a date in the more secluded areas. The setting is comfortable and welcoming, the food was good and it is actually reasonable; Lunch is around ¥1,000.

Kichijoji Waltz 吉祥寺わるつ

A mere 3 minute from Kichijoji station, at the North exit, this restaurant offers course menus.
For lunch it is from ¥3,000-¥5,000; or ¥7,000-¥21,000 for dinner. They serve a variety of intricate and delicious dishes.

Woodberrys

What better way to end the day, but with scrumptious ice cream! In a clean and bright setting, Woodberrys serves delicious frozen yogurt and you can choose a variety of delicious fruits to mix in. It's really refreshing on a summer day, but you don't need to feel guilty as it's quite healthy too!
