Studio Ghibli Museum
This is a real thrill to visit if you are an anime fan! Ghibli Museum is dedicated to exhibiting the art and technique of its animated movies. It is an extremely popular tourist spot in Mitaka. Even if you are not an anime fan, the universally recognized artistic merit of Studio Ghibli's animations definitely makes it worth going! To go there, you must buy your tickets in advance. The southern part of the famous Inogasira Park is in Mitaka. The Studio Ghibli Museum is located within the park. You'll also find on the Mitaka side an athletic field, a kids' playground and a bird sanctuary. You can do cherry blossom viewing in late March and early April. It is comparatively less crowded than the part near the Kichijoji station.
Participate In An Ikebana Class
If the art of Japanese flower arrangement is of interest to you, you can participate in an English class of ikebana called the IKEBANA Experience Amisui. The class has many very positive online reviews.
Chuka Soba Mitaka
Mitaka is somewhat of a ramen place so if you're looking for something to eat that could be a good choice. A particularly popular joint is Chuka Soba Mitaka, located just a 3-minute walk from Mitaka Station. Their ramen is soy-based and made with housemade noodles, and it's only ¥450!
