Things To Do In Kasumigaseki, Tokyo

Tokyo

Kasumigaseki is the center of the political world in Japan. Here is an area guide of this important Tokyo district.

Kasumigaseki is the center of the political world in Japan. Accessible by the station of the same name, it is a small area adjacent to the beautiful Hibiya Park that houses most of the ministries of the country (Finance, Foreign Affairs, Justice, etc.). Pictured above is the Ministry of Justice of Japan. Its outstanding architecture makes it worth the visit. Most other ministries are in standard high-rise buildings.

In case you are wondering, the Japanese Diet is located in the adjacent district to the east. It is not in Kasumigaseki but you can easily walk there if you are interested in seeing the Diet.

What To Eat

Kasumigaseki is right next to Hibiya Park as we've said, and there happens to be an excellent, affordable restaurant in the center of this green oasis.

Hibiya Matsumotoro 日比谷 松本楼

You can eat there some staple Japanese soul foods that were inspired by western cuisine. One of them is hashed beef (called hayashi rice in Japanese) for example, which is beef in a demi-glace sauce. Another one you might want to try is the omurice, which is a fluffy omelette topped on fried rice.
