Kyoto City

There are so many cool cafes in Kyoto that you don't want to miss out on!

Feel free to follow favy!

SARASA NISHIJIN (さらさ西陣)

About a 10 minute walk from Kuramaguchi-cho, this cafe used to be Onsen (hot spring) - they renovated and made it into a cozy, retro and cute cafe! This cafe might remind you of Ghibli's famous anime Spirited Away. Enjoy their unique themed atmosphere and their amazing food!

Moan (茂庵)

This cafe is hidden in the forest, on top of Yoshida mountain. Surrounded by nature with a very good view, you can have a refreshing experience. If you are looking for a place to hike, choose Yoshida mountain, because you can treat yourself with good cafe at the top of the mountain! Around a 30 minute walk from Keihan Demachiyanagi station.

Kawa Cafe (カワカフェ)

Looking for a relaxing cafe right next to a river? Kawa means river in Japanese, and as the name of this cafe suggests, it is located right next to a river called Kamogawa. You will get the great view - no wonder it's so popular right? It is open from 10:00 am, which makes it a good spot for brunches, and it closes at 11:30 pm. This cafe turns into a bar at night, so it is perfect for a classy dinner too! Just a 8 minute walk from Kawaramachi station.

Jouvencelle (ジュヴァンセル)

The name of this store sounds very fancy, but it's not just their name - they serve matcha (green tea) fondue called Gion Fondue! A lot of people come here for this. Since you are in Kyoto, why not try their Gion Fondue to spice up your Kyoto visit? Around a 10 minute walk from Gion Shijo station.
Dip your dango (mochi) into matcha sauce!
Try their photogenic Gion Ice Cream too!

Cafe Bibliotic Hello!

A 6 minute walk from Kyoto-shi Shiyakusho-mae station, this place renovated an old house into a book cafe. They have lots of dessert and lunch menus too.
Right next to this cafe there is a bakery, which you should also try! You can enjoy the Kyoto's atmosphere here.

Quil Fait Bon (キルフェボン)

Just a 5 minute walk from Sanjo station, you will find a cute cafe - this place is a very popular tart shop in Japan! They have stores in different parts of Japan, but wherever you go, it's always crowded. Plus, this cafe is located right next to a river called Takasegawa, which makes this cafe more special. They are very famous for their seasonal tarts, so you should check it out!

TRAVELLING COFFEE

Very close from Kawaramachi, around a 5 minute walk from Kawaramachi station, you will see an old building. And what is so unique about this place is that this building was renovated from old elementary school! Located in one of the classrooms, you will see TRAVELLING COFFEE. It's usually hard to go into a random elementary school, so this place is perfect if you are interested in how elementary schools in Japan look like! Their coffee is also on point, so be sure to try it when you are there.

If you are looking for the nearest cafes...

Some of you may have already noticed this - but convenience stores look a little different than usual in Kyoto. This is due to the restriction. A lot of fast-food chains as well as the convenience stores are told to change their exterior to fit into Kyoto's traditional atmosphere. So Starbucks in Kyoto might be very different from what you see in the cities. You might not notice it until you see the sign! Here's the link to see Starbucks in Kyoto, so make sure to check it out!
