Kaneko Hannosuke 金子半之助

Kaneko Hannnosuke is one of the most popular restaurants in all of Tokyo. It serves some awesome tempura dishes at really reasonable prices. It's not uncommon to see long queues in front of Kaneko.
There are a few branches in Japan and even some overseas, but if you want to go to the original place, that one is in Chuo Ward, Tokyo. It is located at a short walking distance from the Mitsukoshimae Station and the Ningyocho Station.
You only have one choice of Tempura bowl that nearly everyone orders, but you can also order a la carte. It is the Edomae Tendon at ¥950. "Edomae" means "Edo Style", and Edo is the former name of Tokyo. Kaneko wishes to serve a dish that is representative of old Tokyo. In their tempura bowl, you get a huge fried anago, which is a saltwater eel, two huge shrimps, an egg, and veggies. It that isn't enough you can order some extras a la carte.
For an extra ¥120, you can have with it a miso soup. As an extra option, you can also make your rice large size for ¥100, so even if you've worked up a huge appetite you can get a meal that will satisfy you for under ¥1,500. As for beverages, you get some black bean tea for free.
If you feel in the mood for a drink, you can order a bottle of Asahi beer for ¥500. It's hard not to on a hot Japanese summer day.

Finally...

Kaneko Hannosuke is one of those restaurants in Tokyo that are in their own league in terms of popularity. You should definitely mark it on your list of things to do in Nihonbashi. Such delicious tempura at a bargain price is worth queuing for. If you walk by and there is no line, then don't hesitate and walk in!
