Delicious! Animating Memorable Meals

There are many eating scenes in Ghibli movies. The foods are not special or unique. However, the scenes are memorable and always have special meanings. This exhibition explains the special meanings behind the eating scenes.

1. First Room: "Scenes of Food"

The first room exhibits "Scenes of Food" that remain in people's memory using art panels describing how to draw images that linger. The motions of eating such as tearing off a bite with the teeth and using chopsticks are full of information.
The panels show how that motion comes to life within the confines of only a few seconds on the screen.

2. Second Room: "Scenes of Cooking"

The second room's theme is the scenes of cooking. There are two life-size scenes of meals and food: Kusakabe family's kitchen from My Neighbor Totoro and mess hall of the Tiger Moth in Castle in the Sky. You can walk around and observe the scenes of cooking.

3. Restaurants

At the restaurant, there are many food samples from the movies. You can also eat Ghibli themed unique food such as Totoro soba (picture above). You can taste the delicious food that the characters ate in the movies.

Goods and Souvenirs

There are a lot of goods you can buy at the end of the exhibition. There are Ghibli food-themed goods including food shaped magnets from the movies. They will be the great memory of the museum.
