What's Standing Restaurants ?
Uogashi Nihon-Ichi 魚がし日本一 新宿西口店
The most popular place is here, on the west side of Shinjuku station. Uogashi Nihon-Ichi is a reliably good chain restaurant that gets it's seafood directly from the Tsukiji Fish Market. You can get sets of about ten pieces that come with a miso soup for less than ¥1,000. If you order a la carte, just tell the chefs what you want from what is on display in front of the counter. The price is indicated on a tag. Nigiri sushi start at ¥75.
Sushi Misakimaru すし三崎丸
This one is a good spot in the Keio Mall of Shinjuku, also located on the west side of the station. You can get a 5-piece seasonal set with some relatively rare cuts of sushi for just ¥580. Plates of two nigiri sushi are ordered a la carte from ¥100.
Tachigui Sushi Yokocho 立ち寿司横丁
This is a new shop near the west exit of the Shinjuku station that has opened in July of 2018. It has a tastefully done traditional and enjoyable decor with lanterns, wooden counters, etc. It's a good place to have a beer or two with a friend while having some tasty cheap sushi.
Sushi Bar With No Name 名前のない寿司屋
The name means literally the "sushi bar with no name". Located in Kabukicho, near the giant Godzilla, it is the only standing sushi bar on the east side of Tokyo in this list. They are famous for serving ¥10 sushi, they only catch is that you have to order a drink too and there is a ¥300 "otoshi", which is some sort of small appetizer that is more or less seen as a table charge, or in this case, a standing charge to be exact. As for the quality of a ¥10 sushi, according to many online reviews, they are surprisingly decent.
