Dhaba India (Tokyo Station)

Indian cuisine is pretty popular in Japan, and there are many good Indian restaurants in the capital, but judging by the massive amount of rave online reviews, Dhaba India has managed to become the undisputed king of affordable Indian cuisine. On top of serving great-tasting dishes, it stands out because many of the items it serves are not very common at other Indian restaurants in Japan.

This is not a vegetarian restaurant but it does cater to a vegetarian clientele. So if you want amazing Indian vegetable-based cuisine, you'll have some good options too. Just point out to the waiter that you are vegetarian and ask for recommendations.

Milan Nataraj (Shibuya)

Milan Nataraj is a vegetarian restaurant which uses primarily organic vegetables. If you go there for lunch, you can have a ¥1,050 (60 minutes) all-you-can-eat buffet service. You can also have various curry sets all day and tasty homemade Indian sweets that you rarely see elsewhere! At night, the courses are a bit more elaborate and the price is a bit more expensive (around ¥3,000).

Annam (Ginza)

Annam in Ginza has some vegan, vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, and is also Halal certified. The philosophy of the restaurant is to provide food that is healthy so the dishes you'll find here are not oily. They have affordable lunch sets, and if you go there for a nice dinner, why not try something from their extensive drinks menu?

Moti (Roppongi)

Moti has nice vegetarian options too. If you've worked up an appetite, definitely try the special vegetarian set (¥2,730) which comes with 7 different items, including 4 types of vegetable curries.

There is also a 2-hour all-you-can-drink option you can add for ¥2,000 as part of a party course.

Cochin Nivas (Shinjuku)

Cochin Nivas is a well-kept secret in Nishi-Shinjuku. The small restaurant serves authentic south Indian cuisine and has a couple of irresistible vegetarian options too. The moment you walk in you will smell the nice blends of spices and herbs they use. They have the best spinach curry in town. Prices are very reasonable for the amazing quality!
