Cheap Tempura in Asakusa

Asakusa is full of things to do! Temples, shops, festivals. And you can do it all on foot! While you walk around, why not have a quick stop and get yourself some cheap tempura? Perfect!

Tendon Tenya

Tendon Tenya is a chain restaurant that specializes in tendon, a rice bowl with tempura on top. If you're Kosher or can only eat Halal food, this is the place to go as most meals are seafood-based and cooked in vegetable oil. Prices start at 580 yen. Tasty and cheap!

Fuji

Fuji is a hidden gem located just a few blocks from Asakusa Station. Mostly unknown to foreigners, it offers perfectly made donburi from 900 yen. The old school atmosphere is also perfect to have a drink and enjoy a nice conversation.

Tentou

Opening its doors at 10:30 am, Tentou is perfect for those who like to start their tour early!
A little bit pricier, but still on the cheap side, Tentou's rice bowls start at 2,000 yen.
There are three choices available: ten-don (tempura bowl), kakiage-don (shrimp and scallop), or ebi ten-don (shrimp tempura).

Kanenoya

So you walked around all day, visited temples, museums, and all you want now is to relax.
Kanenoya will welcome you! This tempura izakaya has a relaxed vibe where you can enjoy tempura and other dishes with your favorite sake.

Tempura Seikou

Tempura Seikou has been at the same location for 4 generations and needed to be reconstructed after being bombed during the war.
The owner is very welcoming and if you sit by the counter you can watch him prepare the orders. Busy during lunchtime. Expect to spend around 1,000 yen.
