Matcha Coffee Latte at THE MATCHA TOKYO in Omotesando, Tokyo

On November 2018, a matcha-specialized store called THE MATCHA TOKYO opened in Omotesando, Tokyo. You can enjoy matcha ceremony in a relaxed setting. You can also enjoy a new kind of flavour, an organic matcha and coffee latte!

Feel free to follow favy!

A coffee AND matcha latte??

The Matcha Coffee Latte, ¥600.
We came to try their matcha coffee latte at the matcha-specialized shop, THE MATCHA TOKYO in Omotesando, Tokyo. The drink is very photogenic with its three distinct colours, brown, white and green.

The drink is made with three layers:
-Green: matcha syrup with black sugar for a delicate sweetness
-White: pasteurized milk
-Brown: arabica coffee
After mixing it well, it tastes like matcha but the smell of coffee remains. It's a very new and interesting flavour.
Not only the colour, but the taste is also very surprising!

The taste of the black sugar really brings out the taste of the matcha and the milk. It's a very satisfying and delicious drink.

Enjoy organic matcha in a relaxed setting

THE MATCHA TOKYO, where you can enjoy a matcha coffee latte, opened in November 2018, is located 3 minutes away from Meiji-Jingumae Station.

At this store, you can have traditional and organic matcha. In fact, the matcha was carefully cultivated to be organic and pesticide-free.
This cafe is walking distance both from Harajuku and Shibuya and tends to attract Japanese and tourists as well.

The cafe has a very relaxing and soothing interior, where you can come in and unwind although you are in the heart of Tokyo's busiest area!

Seeing the staff making the tea is part of the experience

The tea shop's main menu for matcha is:

-'Japan Premium', Kagoshima and Kyoto's organic matcha blend with low bitterness (¥450)

-'Kyoto Uji', Matcha from Kyoto's Uji has a distinct bitterness and umami(¥450)

-'Goko', this premium and rare matcha is made with the best leaves (¥1,000)
As soon as you order, the staff will carefully prepare the matcha right before your eyes.

Seeing the matcha being prepared is quite a lovely and novel experience if you've never seen that before. It's prepared with much precision and attention.

You can also ask to prepare the matcha yourself!
You can get the Kyushu cake as a set for ¥50 extra. It complements the matcha's flavour perfectly.

Today, we tried the 'Japan Premium'. The matcha presents barely any bitterness, as soon as you take a sip, the sweetness of the tea can be felt.

For Japanese, this is a very comforting hot drink. Once you try it, you will understand its appeal.

The shop offers different types of tea, such as tea lattes and sencha.

For now, THE MATCHA TOKYO only offers drinks, but soon enough they will be offering a food menu with sweets as well.

Be sure to check it out for yourself!
