Shigetsu For a Buddhist Dining Experience in Kyoto!

Shigetsu Kyoto is an exquisite and affordable Shojin Ryori (Buddhist Cuisine) restaurant in Kyoto which is a must-try, both for its breath-taking setting and for its sublime cuisine!

Feel free to follow favy!

Shigetsu Kyoto

Have you ever heard of Shojin Ryori? It is traditional cuisine for Buddhist monks. Respecting the Buddhist philosophy, animal products are not used; simply fresh and seasonal fruits and herbs.
Just because this cuisine is vegan that does mean this cuisine is by any means bland. Dish after dish, it is colourful, creative and delicious. Even if you're not vegetarian or even vegan, you will find it delicious!
Having dinner inside this beautiful temple with a view of a Japanese garden will definitely make for an unforgettable Japanese zen experience!
The interior is very calm and soothing, you will want to carefully and delicately enjoy your meal. Each ingredient is prepared simply, but with the uttermost care. You can slowly eat your meal while enjoying the ingredients' scent and flavours.

Menu

Shigetsu is a wonderful place to try Zen Vegetarian cuisine. If you want a true taste of zen, you should try this!
Courses are between ¥3,000-¥7,000 and you can book a reservation online from their website. Please follow the link below.

Finally...

This restaurant is a must-try experience in Kyoto as Buddhist dining is both sublime in taste and in its presentation.
