3 Places Where You Can Have Vegan Sushi In Tokyo
Shinjuku
Vegetable sushi isn't very common in Tokyo. Sure you can get the standard avocado or cucumber maki virtually anywhere, but for some more original items, try one of these three restaurants!

Gonpachi Sushi Shibuya 権八鮨渋谷 (Shibuya)
Located on the 14th floor, Gompachi Sushi has a stunning night view of the city on top of having some of the most sought-after vegetarian nigiri sushi in Tokyo. The place is not a vegetarian restaurant but they are very particular about their vegetables and have created this special vegan sushi platter that everyone can enjoy. The price is ¥1,300. Enjoy the natural sweetness and simplicity of their colourful vegetarian sushi (includes Japanese ginger, avocado, sprouts, mushroom, etc.). Aside from the sushi, try out their rich homemade tofu (¥540) or their "sora mame" (broad beans, ¥600) for a more complete meal. These are all worth the try even if you don't follow normally a vegetarian diet. There are many more choices of delicate dishes made from seasonal vegetable available.
Gonpachi NORI-TEMAKI (Harajuku)

NORI-TEMAKI located in Harajuku is a sister restaurant of Gonpachi Sushi. It offers a different kind of sushi experience because here you get to have customizable makizushi (sushi rolled in nori). They have a few vegan options such as the plum and cucumber roll shown here. The plum is umeboshi, a sour and salty kind of ingredient often eaten as is or used in traditional cuisine. What's more, this sushi roll can be made with cauliflower bits instead of rice. The result is surprisingly good!

Mominoki House (Shibuya)
At Mominoki house, you can get some incredibly healthy vegan dishes that are colourful and well presented. Among the choices are some vegan sushi made with brown rice, topped with organic vegetables. The prices are reasonable too. Most dishes are around ¥1,500.
