Feel free to follow favy!

Rock Izakaya Star

Rock Izakaya Star near Umeda station is a Japanese-style tavern unlike any other. Thematically decorated in everything rock (to an excess, but in a good way!), it serves some of the heartiest courses of western cuisine you can find in Japan, for cheap! It also plays all our favourite rock songs on a great sound system and any special requests you may have.
This is what the decor looks like! This bar counter is made of actual guitars.
Look up and you'll see some ceiling lights made of drum sets! Pretty neat isn't it!?

It's a really chill place to walk into, because of the nice staff too. What they might lack in English skills they make up in friendliness. They have a menu in English anyway so you shouldn't be too lost. Speaking of which, the food is definitely another solid reason to go there! See below for some ridiculously delicious and hearty courses!

Chicago-style pizza with an all-you-can-drink option (popular choice!)

This thick pizza with oozing cheese is just unbearably tantalizing. Understandably so, it's the centrepiece of the most popular course you can have.
The course in question comes with appetizers, salad, karaage Japanese fried chicken, homemade spareribs, and a dessert. Throw in an all-you-can-drink option (for 2 hours) and the price tag only goes to ¥3,480. Saying that this is not a bad deal is an understatement! If you're really hungry and are longing for some good old American food, this is a must go!

Beware though that you must make a reservation before 11 PM on the previous day for this course.

Cheese and meat course with an all-you-can-drink option

This epic combination of soul foods is also crazy and sublime. Apparently, this course where you pour melting cheese on top of your spareribs is popular with the ladies.

You get served 150g per person of sweet and spicy ribs that are so tender that you can break them apart with your chopsticks.
It doesn't end there. Indeed, you can also enjoy all-you-can-eat karaage chicken, an appetizer, salad, cheese macaroni (yes, more cheese!), and a dessert. All this including the 2-hour all-you-can-drink option is only ¥2,980!

If you're planning to have this course, also make sure to reserve before 11 PM the previous day.

Cheese fondue and gumbo hotpot course with an all-you-can-drink option

I bet you didn't expect to find some traditional Louisiana soul food in a Japanese izakaya! What's more, this gumbo hotpot is served to you in combination with a cheese fondue. Brilliant.

You can alternate between dipping your ingredients in the surrounding ring of cheese and eating some delicious gumbo made from oysters, codfish, scallops, Hokkaido sausage, chicken thighs and many kinds of veggies in the stew.

You get the all-you-can-eat tender karaage chicken with this course too! Try dipping your fried chicken in the cheese; nobody will arrest you! Also comes with salad, vegetables to dip in the fondue, a sauce for the chicken, spicy garlic shrimps, and risotto at the end. With the all-you-can-drink option, this one is ¥3,480. Yeah, this one is pretty hard to beat too.

The all-you-can-drink menu

You might be wondering what the all-you-can-drink option looks lick so here's what it includes in a nutshell.
・draft beer
・chuhai (shochu-based) with flavours of lemon, lime, calpis, yuzu, plum
・whiskey-based drinks
・wine (red or white), including Japanese plum wine (umeshu)
・cocktails (over 15 kinds)

Book for parties! Can accomodate large groups

The izakaya is easy to walk into alone and it's a fun place to go with a few friends, but the venue is ideal for throwing parties too! Rent the whole place to accommodate 20 to 50 people. The 2-hour party course is ¥3,500 per person, and the 3-hour one is ¥4,000 per person.

It includes all kinds of good foods presented above as well as the all-you-can-drink option.

Your group can do karaoke, use the izakaya's three large monitors and the sound system, use the stage for a band and so on.

For all kinds of occasion, Rock Izakaya Star is a super nice place to go! If you're a rock fan you'll love it for sure. If you're not into the genre, well you'll love it anyway because the food is just that good and the atmosphere is just that laid back and friendly. Give it a try next time you're in Osaka!
