5 Fancy Restaurants In Tokyo Ideal For A Romantic Evening

If you are looking for a good restaurant with a warm ambiance, perfect for a romantic encounter, but that is still reasonably-priced (under ¥8,000) then this selection is for you!

Gyu Nabe Iron

Gyu Nabe Iron is located near Shirokanedai station in Minato-ku. You'll be impressed by this traditional classy restaurant the moment you see the entryway.

Note that there isn't even a clear sign that it is a restaurant. To enter, you must press a button to speak to someone on an intercom that will let you in. This secret place is sure to impress your date!

The inside has a retro classy atmosphere with semi-private rooms. The restaurant is actually a Japanese house of 80 years that was renovated.

They serve the perfect courses of miso nabe (miso-based hotpot) for which you slowly cook the raw ingredients by yourself at your table. A course will be around ¥5,000.

Once you finished the meal, you can enjoy the lounge. No need to bother finding a bar that is somewhere else. That lounge space is just perfect.

Ristorante Da Babbo

Ristorante Da Babbo is another hidden gem with no signboard. It's a bit hard to find, especially since it's on the sixth floor but get there and you'll be in for a great romantic evening you'll remember.

Located a 5-minute walk from Ebisu station.

The place only has an 8-seat counter and four private rooms for two, as well as one private room for up to four people.

The cuisine here is Italian, fusion and kappo (refined, traditional Japanese). A course will cost you around ¥8,000.

Suehirogari

Only a minute walk from Nakameguro station, Suehirogari is a small and quaint restaurant.
This restaurant has been recognized by the Michelin Guide as a worthwhile restaurant.

It's different from how you would normally envision a yakitori restaurant as it has a chic interior, a nice atmosphere, and mostly counter seats.

It's a great place to bring a date if you want to sit close to someone you like.

You can have high-end yakitori as part of a course that also includes sashimi for ¥4,500.

The yakitori course menu only serves fresh meat of the day and it changes daily. This is a nice little spot to discover!

Tableaux

Tableaux is a beautiful restaurant in fashionable Daikanyama that you should go to both for its sophisticated, relaxing atmosphere and the New American cuisine it now serves.

Courses are from around ¥7,000.

Many of the staff here speak English, including the in-house sommelier so don't hesitate to ask for some parings even if you don't speak Japanese.

The restaurant has a beautiful terrace and a bar lounge just across it that is also worth the go.

Re:Dine GINZA

The first of its kind in Japan, re:Dine GINZA is a restaurant that offers a coworking space for professional chefs. The interior is spacious and fashionable.

Located in Ginza.

On the same evening, you can try 5 different types of cuisine made by different chefs. The chefs change periodically too so every time you go you're bound to make a new discovery. You can have a wonderful meal there for around ¥8,000 or less.
