5 Super-Fun Themed Bars in Tokyo

Tokyo

Looking for an out of the ordinary bar experience in Tokyo? Check out 5 of my recommendations!

Feel free to follow favy!

VREX- VR Game & Cafe Bar

VR is all the rage these days. At this unique bar in Shibuya, you can play more than 10 games in VR while other bar-goers watch the action on screens throughout the bar. There are various set drink/meal courses that you can choose from, including an all-you-can-drink option. Check it out!

Access: 4 minutes walk from Shibuya station

Science Bar Incubator

The delicious colorful drinks from this laboratory-esque bar are served in a variety of beakers and might remind you of that chemistry class you barely passed back in high school. Ask the lab coat-wearing bartenders about the science behind the drinks, and listen to their entertaining explanations.

Access: 2 minutes walk from Yotsuya Sanchome Station

Luida's Bar - Dragon Quest

For lovers of the classic RPG video game series Dragon Quest, this Roppongi bar cannot be missed. The interior of the bar is very stylish, and each drink and food item is cleverly themed. If you plan to visit on the weekend, you will need to make a reservation a day in advance.

Access: 3 Minutes walk from Oedo Roppongi station

Kichijoji Yurei - Ghost Bar

This spooky bar located in the extremely popular Kichijoji neighborhood in west Tokyo is one that you can't miss. Despite the detailed ghostly decor, it's clear from the moment you walk in that this bar is all about fun. While sipping your drinks, you can also munch on playful and tasty food items like cheese eyeballs or fried voodoo dolls. Come on your birthday, and receive this green jelly brain cake for free!

Access: 3 minutes walk from JR Kichijoji station

Namahage Bar

The namahage (pictured above) can typically only be seen at a local festival in the northen prefecture of Akita. However, Namahage Bar is your chance to experience this unique part of Akita culture while also trying Akita specialty dishes and nihonshu (sake)! If you're looking for an experience that is fun and unique, but also traditional, this is the izakaya for you!

Access: 5 minutes walk to the north of JR Shimbashi station.

Finally...

These are just 5 of my recommendations for themed bars in Tokyo, but there are, of course, many more! I hope you find the perfect place for you. Happy drinking!
