Halima kebab biryani (Indian / Pakistani Cuisine)

Biryani is in the name of the restaurant for a reason; it's delicious at Halima Kebab Biryani.
If Biryani isn't your favorite, you can always go for something from the tandoor or play it safe with one of the delicious curries on offer. The restaurant is located just 5 minutes away from Ueno Station.

Chicken Man (Roasted Chicken)

This shop, specializing in roasted chicken can be found just inside Ameyokocho, 4 minutes walking from Ueno Station. There are a few different types of chicken dishes on the menu, but we recommend to go for just the roasted chicken with rice or potatoes. If you're feeling hungry, or have a someone who wants to share, you can get a whole roasted chicken for just ¥1,500!

Pizzeria Santa Fe (Pizza)

If you're in the mood for younger, more hip vibe, head to Pizzeria Santa Fe. It's a bit farther than the other restaurants listed here (a 12 minute walk north of Ueno), but you'll be rewarded with a calmer atmosphere than the bustle of Ameyokocho. We definitely recommend ordering a couple stone oven pizzas. Try one with fish (they get all seafood from Hokkaido)!

Vege Herb Saga (Vegetarian Indian Cuisine)

For scrumptious, made-from-scratch, vegetarian Indian home cooking, this is the place to visit. You can't go wrong with anything that you decide to order. The prices are very affordable, but if you have the budget for the ¥3,850 Rajasthani Rajwada Thali set, you will not be disapointed by its ghee-licious flavors.
How to get there: 9 minutes south of JR Ueno station, 1 minute from Nakaokachimachi station, 3 Minutes from Uenohirokouji station.

Moses's Kebab

There is more than one halal kebab shop in Ameyokocho, but Moses's is probably the best. Just 4 minutes from Ueno station, the menu is simple: for a kebab, you can choose from beef, chicken, or a mix of the two. You then choose you the sauce combination you want based on your spice tolerance. No matter what you go with, you will not be disappointed by this delicious meaty sandwich.
