Affordable Sukiyaki in Shinjuku?? Head to Ibuki!

If you're looking for a great sukiyaki place that won't break the bank, Ibuki is a great option. Not only is it affordable, but it's also a Shinjuku institution with a long history of serving outstanding sukiyaki.

Feel free to follow favy!
Ibuki is a quality sukiyaki restaurant located very close to Shinjuku Station's South Exit. Established in 1950, this restaurant remains very popular to this day thanks to the no-nonsense, high quality of the food.

This restaurant is quite small, so you might have to make a reservation before-hand, but if you're lucky, the very nice staff might be able to squeeze you in somewhere. The unassuming interior of the restaurant is reminiscent of the Showa era, when Ibuki was opened.
The menu at Ibuki is wonderfully simple; you can choose from sukiyaki or shabu-shabu.
A sukiyaki meal is 3,400 yen. If you need extra meat, it is available for ¥2,700.
Shabu-shabu is offered for ¥3,900, and is quite good as well.

pickles, grilled sweet potatoes, or udon can also be ordered as a side.
If you're wondering what it looks like to cook sukiyaki, have a look at the video below. Warning: it will make you want to head straight to Shinjuku to try it for yourself.

Ibuki is just outside of JR Shinjuku and Toei Shinjuku Stations.
As mentioned above, the restaurant is well known and very popular. Your best bet is to make a reservation earlier in the day.
Enjoy the meat!
I live in west Tokyo and spend my time thinking about food and going bouldering.
