Hokkaido is known throughout Japan for its wonderfully fresh produce and seafood. Feel free to follow favy!

★★★ Sushi Miyakawa

https://gurunavi.com/en/h859500/rst/
Miyakawa is newly-awarded Michelin 3 star restaurant in Sapporo near Maruyama Park. Chef Miyakawa chooses the very finest ingredients of the season, no matter how expensive, and serves them to a limited number of lucky guests each night. The dining experience and sushi here is as good as it gets, so don't miss a chance to visit if you can!

The omakase course at Miyakawa is a very reasonable ¥16,000 (for Michelin 3-star restaurants).
Reservations at Miyakawa are taken for one of two dinner times every night, one from 5 pm to 7:15 pm and one from 7:30 pm until close. There are only 8 seats at the counter, meaning that just 16 lucky people per day get to enjoy the incredible sushi served here. Make sure to book your seat as far in advance as you can so you don't miss out!

★★ Tempura Araki

Located in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Tempura Araki (天ぷら あら木)is one of the top tempura restaurants in Japan. Only 18 guests per day can enjoy the magical, scrumptious tempura served here by master chef Yoshiyuki Araki.

Araki is only open for dinner, and there is only one option: the omakase course (decided by the chef). This will include about 12 pieces of tempura and 7 or 8 other dishes (tsumami). This means that all you have to do is sit back, relax, and eat whatever is put in front of you!

Araki utilizes the best of local, seasonal ingredients. Hokkaido is known throughout Japan for the outstanding quality of its food products, including seafood and vegetables. At Araki, every ingredient has been carefully chosen and is guaranteed to be excellent.

★★ Ajidokoro

The chef at Ajidokoro trained at a famous ryotei (traditional high-end Japanese restaurant) in Kansai before moving back to his hometown of Kuriyama (about 40 kilometers from Sapporo) to open his own restaurant.
Set into the trees, Ajidokoro feels like a refined cabin in the woods, with an interior decorated with beautiful natural materials and cuisine that utilizes local ingredients in the most delicious manner imaginable.
It's a bit of a trip to get to, but is definitely worth it! From the middle of Sapporo, it's possible to reach the restaurant in under 2 hours using public transit, but it might be nice to plan an overnight in Kuriyama so that you can relax in the area.

The courses start from just ¥4,000 for lunch, and from ¥6,000 for dinner, which is quite a value considering the quality of this Michelin 2-star meal restaurant.

★★ Sushi Ikko

Many would argue that Ikko is the best sushi in Hokkaido. The restaurant has 2 Michelin stars, and people travel to Hokkaido just to eat here. Many reviewers on Tabelog claim to have been literally brought to tears from the deliciousness of the sushi. The ingredients are of the highest quality, and the sushi and tsumami are simply outstanding

The omakase course here is ¥25,000 per person, which will seem like a bargain once you've finished eating. Don't miss this restaurant if you're going to Hokkaido!

★ Katsukani no Hanasaki

katsukani_chef
'Katsukani no Hanasaki' is a one-of-a-kind restaurant in Sapporo, Hokkaido that specializes in live crab. Hokkaido is famous for its crabs, but Katsukani is the only crab restaurant in Hokkaido to have earned a Michelin Star. A meal at Katsukani is more than just sitting down to eat crab; it's an interactive performance by a master crab chef, who prepares the meat in different ways right in front of you.

A reservation is required to dine at Katsukani, and needs to be made at least one day in advance (although it is advisable to reserve one month in advance, if possible). A reservation must be for a party of 2 or more people. See the link below if you need help to make a reservation in Japanese.

★ Le Musee

https://gurunavi.com/en/h298402/rst/
Le Musée is listed in the Michelin Guide as an 'innovative' restaurant, which is definitely true. The restaurant is designed to seem almost like a museum, and the bright lively dining room features artwork on the walls and on the plates which are served. The focus of Le Musée's cuisine is Hokkaido's lush nature, and it is reflected in the presentation of the dishes and the ingredients used. Every dish here is really like a work of art and almost seems too beautiful to consume.

Lunch courses run for ¥5,400 or ¥10,800, and dinner courses are ¥16,200 or ¥21,600 and reservations are necessary.
If you're looking for a creative and beautiful meal that is modern and pushes boundaries while still respecting the location that it is in, Le Musée is a must-visit!

★ Sobakiri Nakamura

https://gurunavi.com/en/h847900/rst/
Sobakiri Nakamura is by far the least expensive restaurant on this list. That doesn't at all mean that it's not incredible, however! Nakamura serves guests handmade soba that is made completely from scratch, all the way down to the stone grinding of the soba flour. It's probably the tastiest soba you can find in Hokkaido and needs to be tried!
Lunch prices are average about ¥1,000 and are available until the day's supply of noodles runs out! At dinnertime, the restaurant serves more sophisticated courses, which run between ¥6,000 and ¥10,000 and feature inventive and exciting dishes such as one which includes hot dashi poured over matsutake ice cream. Reservations are needed for dinner and can only be made for parties of over 4 people, so be prepared!
