'Chawari' is a new restaurant offering a simple yet customizable menu of Japanese fried chicken (karaage) and tea-based alcoholic drinks (ochawari).
The tea drinks can be ordered from any combination of 3 different teas and 3 alcohols, with 9 possible concoctions. The fried chicken, too, can be ordered from 3 different cuts of chicken meat and 3 different seasonings, making for 9 possible combinations!

The restaurant already has 2 successful restaurants in other parts of Tokyo, and the Ginza location inside of 're:Dine Ginza' will be the third.

The alcoholic tea drinks at Chawari can be made from shochu, gin, or whiskey, mixed with artisan kukicha green tea, hojicha (roasted green tea), or Earl Grey tea. While mixing tea and alcohol may seem odd, it's actually not all that uncommon in Japan and is surprisingly tasty!

There are currently 9 possible combinations of these teas and alcohols, but there are plans in the works to add more flavors and liquors, including new options that aren't offered at the other chawari stores in Tokyo!

The basic chawari drinks using either of the green teas and shochu are just ¥500. Whiskey and Gin are an additional ¥50, and the premium Earl Grey tea adds an extra ¥100. Try the various combinations to find the perfect chawari drink for you!

Choose from juicy momo (thigh meat), sasami (breast meat), or seseri (neck meat) and have it flavored with wasabi, plum, or vinegar.

The outside is beautifully crispy and the inside is moist and flavorful. each boneless bite is so tasty that you don't even need to add any extra sauce or seasoning. Try each cut of meat to see the difference in flavor and texture and see which flavoring you like the best!
